Dr. Abigail Cohen is a double board-certified child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist. She treats the full spectrum of psychiatric conditions with care for each individual and their needs. Her interests include ADHD across the lifespan, the treatment of college students and transitional age youth, and the management of bipolar disorder.
Dr. Cohen is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the Icahn School of Medicine where she had previously worked as full time faculty directing the Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Emergency Consult Service at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital, and supervising psychiatry residents and fellows.
Prior to medical training, Dr. Cohen studied Art History as an undergraduate at Rice University, and completed additional graduate coursework in Art Education at Teacher’s college. She has presented at a variety of venues, including to clinicians at national psychiatry conferences including the annual meeting of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the World Conference on ADHD, and non-clinical audiences at the Pratt Institute and Nerd Night: Den Hague. Additionally, she has written book chapters on the mental health topics of suicidality and substance use, and contributed articles on human olfaction and the life of artist and illustrator Maurice Sendak for the illustrated books The Where, the Why and the How: 75 Artists Illustrate Wondrous Mysteries of Science, and the sequel, The Who, The Where and the When: 65 Artists Illustrate the Secret Sidekicks of History.

Dr. Cohen has an empathic and non-judgmental style. She takes the time needed to listen, and works to help individuals meet their personal goals. Dr. Cohen seeks to help people make informed choices about their treatment, whether that includes medication or non-pharmacologic options.
